When Should You See a Physiotherapist?

4 min read

It's a common question: is this pain something I should just rest and wait out, or is it time to see a physiotherapist?

As a general guide, it's worth booking a physiotherapy assessment if pain or discomfort lasts more than a few days without improving, if it limits your ability to do normal daily activities, if it follows a specific injury, or if it keeps returning despite rest.

Physiotherapists are trained to assess movement, posture and function as a whole — not just the painful area in isolation. An early assessment can help identify what's contributing to your discomfort and guide the right next steps, rather than guessing at home remedies.

If you're unsure, a short conversation with a physiotherapist is often the fastest way to get clarity. It doesn't commit you to a long treatment course — an assessment on its own can be genuinely useful information.
