Returning to Sport Safely After an Injury
4 min read
One of the most common causes of repeat injury is returning to sport or intense activity before the body is truly ready — even when the pain has mostly settled.
A sensible return-to-sport approach is typically gradual: restoring full pain-free range of motion first, then rebuilding strength, then reintroducing sport-specific movement at a controlled intensity before returning to full competitive activity.
Pain that consistently returns with activity, ongoing swelling, or a feeling of instability in the joint are all signs that more time or guided rehabilitation is needed before returning to full sport.
A physiotherapy assessment can help determine where you currently stand in this process and build a structured plan to return to sport with lower risk of re-injury.
